Lantern Learn
For grown-ups

How it works.

Free courses, short daily lessons, and nothing between your kid and Day 1. Here is everything parents ask us, in plain words.

Four steps.

  1. 1

    Pick a course

Browse by grade or subject. Each course is 12 weeks long and built for one grade band, from kindergarten to Grade 6 and up.

  2. 2

    Open Week 1

Every week opens right away, no account needed. Each week has five or six short daily lessons, most about 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Save progress

When you want progress saved, make a free parent account. Add each kid by display name and avatar, and each gets their own progress.

  4. 4

    Finish and celebrate

Finished days show up as progress kids can see. Finish every week and your kid earns a printable certificate.

Parent FAQ.

Is it really free?

Yes. Every course is free from the first day to the last. There is no trial, no card and no paywall partway through.

Do we need an account?

No. Every week of every course opens without signing in. A free parent account only saves progress, so your kid can pick up where they left off on any device.

How does sign-in work?

There is no password. Enter your email and we send a one-tap sign-in link. Open it on the device you want to use and you are in.

What do you collect about my kids?

Accounts belong to grown-ups. For each kid you add, we keep the display name and avatar you choose and their course progress. Kids never need an email address. The full details are on our privacy page, and you can delete your account from the account page at any time.

How long is a lesson?

Short. Most daily lessons take about 15 minutes. Builder's Lab days run about 20 and Mission Commander (Grade 6 and up) about 30. Each course is 12 weeks of five or six lessons a week, and each course page lists its pace.

Can my kid do it alone?

Often, yes. Code Crew Kindergarten needs no reading and is built so a five-year-old can run it, and Tomorrow Trail reads every line aloud. Science Launch ends each week with a Saturday Launch Lab the family does together, with a debrief note for the grown-up. Astronomy Year sky nights happen outside with a grown-up.

Which course should we start with?

Start at your kid's grade and open Week 1. If a day feels too easy or too hard, try the grade above or below. Nothing is locked, so switching costs nothing.

Do I need to buy supplies?

No special kit. Science Launch investigations use household materials, and Builder's Lab challenges use paper, tape and cardboard. Mission Commander needs a computer that can run Python, which is free.

Can I use it with more than one kid?

Yes. Add every kid to one parent account. They share the courses and each keeps their own separate progress.

Does it work for homeschool or a classroom?

Yes. Many families use it as a free homeschool curriculum piece, and teachers can make a teacher account to add students and watch each one's progress. Courses map to named standards: Common Core for reading and math, CSTA for coding and NGSS for science.

What devices does it work on?

It runs in a web browser, so there is nothing to install. Mission Commander is the exception: older kids write Python on a computer.

Are there ads?

No. There are no ads in the courses and nothing to buy inside a lesson.
